Abstract | A brief review of the biomimetic study of composite materials including dumbbell-like whiskers imitating animal bone, helical fibers simulating vascular bundles and fatigue-crack healing caused lifetime prolongation of material is given at first. The inspiration from biological living process and the discussion of conservative system and dissipative system as well as the nonequilibrium process under transient heating consists in the second part. And some examples of biomimetic treatment such as material designed with self-healing function, self-healing of oxidation damage and a possible way to recover the fatigue of materials are given in the last part of this paper. |
