AbstractA comprehensive survey was made of various advances of Ti3Al and TiAl research in China. The investigation focused on the materials development and fundamental research. Several Ti-Al based alloys have been manufactured, and show good properties. Diverse components have been fabricated successfully. Microstructure characterization at the atomic scale, environment embrittlement, and computational studies for site occupancy of alloying elements in Ti-Al compounds are also reviewed.
