Tensile strength of high-porosity metals

AbstractBased on the structural feature of high-porosity metals with three-dimensional reticulated shape, a simplified structural model has been established for these materials. Tn the light of this model, the formulas far calculating the tensile strength in terms of the porosity of material hare been derived from the relative theories of geometry and mechanics. The formulas connect the tensile strength with porosity(theta) by means of the power of (1-theta). These formulas has been applied to the nickel foam.
