Abstract | Phosphorus significantly improves the stress-rupture properties and strongly retards the creep process of rolled IN718 alloy. Increasing phosphorus to 0.02wt% causes an increase of the apparent creep activation energy from 678. 5kJ/mol to 746. 1kJ/mol and an increase of the diffusion activation energy along grain boundary from 276. 1kJ/mol to 349. 8kJ/mol. It has been proposed that phosphorus segregates to grain boundary due to the reduction of the grain boundary energy by the segregation and thus decreases both grain boundary cohesion and diffusivity. |
