摘要	Bulk amorphous Nd(60)Fe(30)Al(10) alloy with a diameter of 6 mm and length of 50 mm was prepared by water quenching the molten alloy together with B(2)O(3) flux medium in an quartz tube. It is 2 mm larger in diameter than that fabricated by the copper mould casting previously. For bulk Nd(70)Fe(20)Al(10) alloy, however, it contained certain crystalline phase(s) when fabricated into a sample with 3 mm in diameter and 50 mm in length by the same method, being at least 4 mm smaller in diameter than that fabricated by copper mold casting. For the water quenching bulk amophous Nd(60)Fe(30)Al(10), its size is the largest except the Pd-based alloy in ternary alloy system. The calculated critical cooling rate is 0.55 k/s. The calculated apparent activation energy of crystallization as well as the results analyzed by DSC show that amorphous Nd(60)Fe(30)Al(10) has a low thermal stability.
