Spheroidization and coalescence of nanometer Pb film

AbstractThe morphological instability of nanometer Pb film under electron beam irradiation was investigated using in situ transmission electron microscopy. The morphological instability is characterized by spheroidization of Pb film and coalescence of Pb particles. The Pb particles have good mobility on the Al supporting film. The movement and collision of particles lead to the coalescence growth. The growth rate of coalescence is related to the size of particles and collision frequency. The mechanism of spheroidization and coalescence was discussed.
