Effect of phase transformation pseudoelasticity on resistance of NiTi alloy to cavitation-abrasion in multiphase flow

摘要The resistance of NiTi alloy to abrasion and cavitation-abrasion (combined action of abrasion and cavitation erosion) in multiphase flow was investigated by using a rotating disc equipment. 0Cr13Ni5Mo stainless steel, which is now used as materials for rotating wheels of hydroturbines, was also tested under the same conditions for comparison. The results show that NiTi alloy has much better resistance to abrasion and cavitation-abrasion than 0Cr13Ni5Mo stainless steel. Results from the tensile and cycle stress-strain response of NiTi alloy show that the alloy has the rubber-similar characteristic. It could absorb impact energy for its recoverable phase transformation, i.e. pseudoelastic. Super resistance of NiTi alloy is closely connected with its good pseudoelasticity.
