摘要Thermally-grown alumina formed at 1000, 1100 and 1200 degreesC on magnetron-sputtered Co-Cr-Al nanocoatings with and without yttrium additions has been characterized using photo-stimulated luminescence spectroscopy (PSLS). The measurements on some locations provided a scenario in relation to time-dependent evolution of the luminescence spectrum, which revealed a two-stage phase transformation of alumina, from metastable gamma, theta phases to stable a phase. The transient time was shortened with increasing temperature and can almost not be characterized at 1200 degreesC. PSLS analysis also demonstrated that yttrium. appears to play a role in slowing down the phase trasformation.
