AbstractElectrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) of T6 peak-aged AA2090 and AA8090 aluminium-lithium alloys in EXCO solution were studied. For AA8090 alloy without exfoliation, the EIS is comprised by a depressed capacitive arc at high frequency and an inductive arc at low frequency, and the inductive component weakens and also disappears with time. Once exfoliation occurs, the EIS is composed of two capacitive arcs at high frequency and at low frequency respectively. For AA2090 alloy, due to the appearance of numerous large pits, two capacitive arcs appear, though no exfoliation occurs. After exfoliation, the EIS feature of AA2090 alloy is similar to that of AA8090 alloy.
