AbstractThe dendrite morphology and solute redistribibution during solidification are simulated by using cellular automaton method. In the model, the solute. redistribution is calculated in both solid and liquid phases, respectively. Furthermore, the effect of evolution of solid fraction on the solute redistribution is considered. Comparing this method with the solutal potential method normally used in the literature, it is shown that this method is more stable and less vibration.
