Oxidation of a ternary Cu-10Ni-5Al alloy in 1 X 10(5) Pa pure O-2 at 700 degrees C similar to 800 degrees C

摘要The oxidation of Cu-10Ni-5Al has been studied at 700degreesC-800degreesC in pure O-2. The oxidation behavior of the alloy at both temperatures is similar. After an initial stage of fast reaction, this alloy is able to develop a continuous layer of alumina at the base of the scale, which prevents proceding with oxidation of aluminum and other components, thus the oxidation rate was greatly reduced as compared with the initial oxidation stage. The presence of 10 at% Ni makes the transition of aluminum from internal to external oxidation more difficult in contrast with the corresponding Cu-5Al binary alloy.
