Preparation of tungsten powder by SHS with a reduction process

摘要Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) with a reduction process was used to fabricate tungsten powder from the system CaWO4-Mg. The physical-chemical change during heating and the effects of pressure of samples and diluents (W powder) on the products were studied. The experimental results showed that the porosity of the combustion product and the particle size of the final tungsten powder decreased with increasing pressure of the sample. Additive diluents were able to increase the particle size of the final tungsten powder The purity of the tungsten was improved by leaching in NaOH solution. The results of spectral analysis and particle size distribution of final tungsten powder showed that the final W powder had a median diameter of 0.87 mum, specific surface area of 1.09m(2)/g and purity above 99.0%.
