Effect of Ru on the Oxidation Behavior of a Ni-Base Single-Crystal Superalloy

摘要The effect of Ru on the isothermal oxidation of Ni-base single crystal superalloys has been investigated by discontinuous thermogravimetric analysis. The scale structures were analyzed using XRD, SEM and EDX. The kinetic curves of the alloys exposed at 1000 degrees C and 1100 degrees C obeyed the parabolic law, and the addition of Ru had minimal direct effect on the oxide phase types. The scales for three alloys with various Ru additions were mainly composed of an outer (Ni, Co) O layer, a second complex oxides layer, and an inner Al2O3 layer. The spallation of the scale was observed after a long time oxidation at 1000 degrees C and 1100 degrees C. The mass gains of the alloys with Ru addition were higher than those of the alloys without Ru addition when exposed to high temperatures at 1000 degrees C and 1100 degrees C. This showed that the addition of Ru can reduce the oxidation resistance in the alloy oxidation at high temperatures due to Ru inhibiting the formation of Al2O3 layer. Furthermore, the rate of oxidation for the alloy with 3 Ru addition at 1100 degrees C was slower than that of the alloy with 1.5 Ru addition since the weak-bond in NiWO4 was limited by Ru addition. The internal nitride was obtained from the three alloys with Ru addition due to the loose Al2O3 films.
