A new approach to manufacture oxidation-resistant NiCrAl overlay coatings by electrodeposition

摘要NiCrAl overlay coatings have been manufactured by means of conventional electrodeposition of Ni into a porous electrophoretic deposition layer of CrAl nanoparticles. The NiCrAl coatings are compact with a uniform distribution of Cr and Al elements in nano-length scale. They can thermally grow alumina scales in air at 1000 degrees C, with parabolic oxidation constants as low as that of the ternary coating counterparts prepared by means of physical vapor deposition technologies such as sputtering and arc ion plating.
