Oxidation and hot corrosion behavior of NiCrAlYSi plus NiAl/cBN abrasive coating

AbstractIn order to improve the oxidation and hot corrosion resistance of blades tip as well as the sealing performance of gas turbine engine, a NiCrAlYSi + NiAl/cBN abrasive coating was prepared by combining arc ion plating, electroplating and above-pack aluminisation. Oxidation and hot corrosion behavior of the abrasive coating were investigated. Results indicated that the abrasive coating showed lower oxidation and degradation rate at 900 degrees C. NaCl aggravated the corrosion extent via cyclic chlorination/oxidation reaction, and the cBN/metallic coating interface also played a crucial role as a shortcut of the corrosive media. Besides, the oxidation and hot corrosion mechanisms were discussed.
