Study on chrome-flee chemical conversion treatment of magnesium alloys Part I-Optimization of technological parameters and investigation of film properties
A novel nontoxic and chrome-free chemical conversion treatment process for Mg and its alloys was presented. The technological parameters were optimized by orthogonal experiments: 8 g/L Na^+, 0.5 g/LCO^-23, 0.01 g/L auxiliary film-forming agent (code: N), treatment temperature 30℃ and time 30 min. The properties of conversion film, such as corrosion resistance and adhesion strength to different coatings, were studied. The film obtained under optimal process conditions shows good corrosion resistance as characterized by the failure time in neutral salt spray test (〉96 h) and adhesion strength to coatings (reaching first grade).
