Abstract | The microstructure and mechanical properties of Mg-6Zn-1Al-0.3Mn under different heat treatments were investigated. The results show that the two-stage solution treatment is obviously better than single-stage solution treatment, and all the MgZn phases nearly dissolve into the matrix after 335 degrees C x 4 h + 385 degrees C x 8 h solution treatment. Both the solution treatment and the aging time have an important effect on the number and size of rod-shaped beta(`)(1) during the aging treatment. In a word, after the 335 degrees C x 4 h + 385 degrees C x 8 h + 175 degrees C x 8 h heat treatment, the beta(`)(1) phase uniformly distributes in the matrix with the highest number density and a length of 50 nm, and the alloy exhibits the best mechanical properties-the tensile strength and the yield strength reach to 279.2 +/- 1.1, 170.8 +/- 3.1 MPa, respectively, and the elongation is 15.3 +/- 0.7%. |
