Corrosion behaviors of Mo0.5NbTiVCr0.25 and Mo(0.5)NbTiV(0.5)Zr(0.25 )multi principal element alloys in high temperature borated and lithiated water

摘要The corrosion behaviors of Mo(0.5)NbTiVCr(0.25 )and Mo0.5NbTiV0.5Zr0.25 multi principal element alloys were investigated in borated and lithiated water at 360 degrees C. The two multi principal element alloys showed superior corrosion resistance than the M5 zirconium alloy due to the thinner inner oxide layer of the former, which may be related to composition of the inner oxides. The inner oxides primarily consisted of Ti and Nb elements, while the outer oxides primarily consisted of Ti, Nb and V elements. The corrosion behavior was dominated by the oxidation of Ti and Nb, and the corrosion process was explored.
