In this paper, a new type of stainless steel-F518 has been designed and developed. The general corrosion, intergranular corrosion, electrochemical corrosion and erosion corrosion are analyzed and studied by the alloy in simulated media of practical process. The microstructure is investigated, the mechanical properties are tested. AES and XPS studies are carried out to determine the chemical compound, element valence and film structure of the stainless steel passivation film in selfpassivatin state. The basic reason of anti-corrosion of F518 stainless steel in dilute sulphuric acid solution is clearly interpreted. The effects of Cu~(2+) ions on corrosion and electrochemical behaviour, the composition and structure of passive film on the alloy surface have been analyzed and discussed. The theoretical foundation is effctively provided for anti-corrosive alloy development and industrial application.
