Effect of liquid droplet impingement (LDI) treatment on the electrochemical behavior of Q345C in 0.5 wt% NaCl solution

摘要The electrochemical corrosion behavior of Q345C carbon steel under liquid droplet impingement (LDI) treatment with different velocities has been investigated. The results showed that the LDI treatment increased the surface inhomogeneity (geometric and energetic inhomogeneity) and accelerated the corrosion of the samples. After LDI treatment with droplet at velocities >= 100 m/s, the surface of the samples showed material shedding and increased roughness. The LDI treatment with a droplet velocity of 200 m/s resulted in the fragmentation of the Q345C surface grains and the formation of small grains and subgrains with different orientations. The EIS response was analyzed by means of the theoretical model of dynamics of electric double layer, and it was found that an increase in the surface inhomogeneity changed the structure of the electric double layer and reduced the crossing time scale of the ions jump from the compact layer to the diffusion layer (tau H), which may be the main reason for the accelerated electrochemical corrosion of Q345C after LDI treatment.
