Al-Nd alloy was deposited from an Al-Nd electrode on AZ31 magnesium alloy by pulsed high-energy micro-arc alloying(HEMAA) process. The depositions were conducted with a series of processing parameters. The influence of processing parameters on the electrode erosion rate and mass transfer direction was investigated. And the mass change of both electrode and substrate was characterized. The results show that anodie and cathodic mass change depend on the processing parameters. The deposited spots under different processing parameters have similar morphologies, but the different size. The material transfer from substrate to electrode and the material transfer from the electrode to the suhstrate occurr instantaneous
