UV-Induced Oxidative Energy Storage Behavior of a Novel Nanostructured TiO(2)-Ni(OH)(2) Bilayer System

摘要Storage of the oxidative energy generated at a UV-irradiated TiO(2) photocatalyst can be achieved by coupling TiO(2) with Ni(OH)(2), a redox-active p-type semiconductor. However, improvement on the oxidative energy storage efficiency of the TiO(2)/Ni(OH)(2) system is becoming a challenge. In this paper, we have investigated the UV-induced oxidative energy storage behavior of a novel nanostructured TiO(2)-Ni(OH)(2) bilayer system fabricated by the cathodic electrodeposition of a Ni(OH)(2) layer onto an oriented TiO(2) nanorod film. The as-prepared bilayer system shows a markedly enhanced apparent quantum yield (6.8%), and the number of the corresponding irradiation-discharge cycles has significantly increased. A possible UV-induced oxidative energy storage mechanism for the bilayer-platinum coupling system is proposed.
