gamma/gamma' composites were developed by the conversion of electrode posited Ni-Al films with dispersed Al particles in Ni matrix into Ni3Al by vacuum annealing at 600 degrees C for 4 h. The oxidation resistance at 1000 degrees C was greatly increased for the gamma/gamma' composite prepared from the electrodeposits containing 10 wt.% nano-sized Al particles compared with that containing micro-sized particles with a similar weight percentage. The effect of the Al particle size on the structure and oxidation of the transformed gamma/gamma' composite is discussed. (c) 2006 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
