Kinetic details of the nucleation in supercooled liquid metals

AbstractThe kinetic details of the nucleation in a supercooled Ni6Cu4 melt are investigated using molecular dynamics simulation method. It is indicated that the nucleus is a random mixture of a large number of fcc structures and a small number of hcp structures. The growth rate of the nucleus increases linearly with undercooling (Delta T). The results show the microstructure evolution in the supercooled liquid of Ni6Cu4 clearly.
