摘要 | The isothermal oxidation behavior of a (Ni, Pd) Al coating was investigated in air over the temperature range of 800-1150degreesC by means of TGA, XRD, SEM/EDS. The oxidation kinetics of the (Ni, Pd) Al coating obey approximately the parabolic rate law, but the transformation of theta-Al2O3 to alpha-Al2O3 results in a distinct two-step parabolic oxidation at 1000degreesC, 1050degreesC and 1100degreesC. A change in the morphology of scales with oxidation time and temperature was also observed. In comparison with the conventional simple-aluminide coating, palladium plays an important role in accelerating the diffusion of Ti from the substrate to the coating surface in the palladium-modified aluminide coating. |
