A Ti-48Al-2Cr (at.%) alloy consisting of gamma + alpha(2) lamellar structure was deformed in compression at room temperature. Study by high resolution electron microscopy was carried out on the characteristic of induced gamma(T)/alpha(2) interface. During deformation the gamma(T)/alpha(2) interface presents a stepped structure and the gamma/alpha(2) interface remains straight. The formation mechanism Of gamma(T) associated with misfit dislocations is proposed. 1/2[01 (1) over bar](gamma) interfacial dislocation in the gamma/alpha(2) interface can dissociate into a 1/6[(1) over bar1 (2) over bar](gamma) partial dislocation which glides on the ((1) over bar 11)(gamma) plane and causes gamma(T) to form.
