An investigation has been made of the dislocation structure of the plastic zone head of crack tips in a Go-base superalloy during in situ tensile deformation. The results show that the dislocation distribution in the plastic zone depends on both the orientation of the tensile axis and the stress state at the crack tip. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
