First-order spin reorientation reform (FOSRR) in a two-sublattice ferrimagnetic system

摘要Based on a two-sublattice mean-field model, a calculation procedure was developed to investigate the temperature dependence of the spontaneous magnetization of the two-sublattice system. First-order spin reorientation reforms (FOSRRs) were found in a two-sublattice ferrimagnetic system, depending on the competition between the exchange and the opposite anisotropies of the two sublattices. At the temperature where the FOSRR transition occurs both the directions and the strengths of the sublattice moments change accompanied with alterations of the exchange fields and the anisotropies. One expects that the FOSRRs could be found experimentally in R-T compounds and/or in ultrathin magnetic films and magnetic monolayers, although the mean-field approximation used here is quite poor for the latter (2D) systems.
