Abstract | A study on magnetic properties of Ho(Fe1-xNix)(11.3)Nb-0.7 has been performed. X-ray diffraction shows that all compounds crystallize in the ThMn12-type structure. Substitution of Ni for Fe leads to a slight decrease of the lattice constants. The Curie temperature clearly increases with increasing Ni content, whereas the saturation magnetization decreases monotonely. The X-ray diffraction patterns of aligned samples show that the easy magnetization direction is along the c-axis for all compounds investigated. A first-order magnetization process (FOMP) has been observed at low temperature in HoFe11.3Nb0.7. The critical field of the FOMP increases with decreasing temperature. |
