摘要	The atomic positions in the unit cell of metastable silver sulfide, Ag8S, formed in the initial stage of sulfidation of silver, have been studied by high-resolution electron microscope images and selected-area electron diffraction patterns, interpreted by electron diffraction and image formation theories. The unit cell belongs to the orthorhombic system with space group Imm2. The lattice parameters are a = 0.59, b = 0.64 and c = 0.87 nm.
