Abstract | Ideal bonding or optimum bonding between reinforcement and matrix is always focused on in the study of composites but many of the biomaterial interfaces consist of imperfect bonding or worst bonding with excellent load transfer capability. Some biomimetic examples dealing with the design of worst bonding interface for composites, such as the model of fibers with fractal-tree structure, the optimum design of composites simulating bamboo structure and the dumb-bell model of reinforcement simulating animal bone, all able to transfer load remarkably are overviewed in this paper. |
