MICROSTRUCTURE, TENSILE PROPERTIES AND FRACTURE-BEHAVIOR OF DOUBLE-AGED 8090 AL-LI ALLOY

摘要In the present work, an investigation has been made to explore the influence of double-aging on the microstructure and proper ties of 8090 Al - Li alloys by using the orthogonal main-effect plan to arrange experiments. Results show that both first step and second step aging have great influence on the precipitation and growth of delta' and grain boundary equilibrium phases. The first step aging promotes the nucleation of delta' phase and results in the increase of density of delta' phase in the final microstructure. The range analysis on the tensile tests indicates that the influence of first step and second step aging on the ultimate tensile strength (UTS), yield strength (YS) and elongation (EL) is different. As for the alloy used for this study, heat treatment of 100 degrees C for 8 h plus 190 degrees C for 4 h is a good processing for getting a better combination of UTS, YS and EL. The fracture mode of double-aged specimens can be divided in three ways: transgranular tearing, transgranular shearing with intergranular delamination and intergranular fracture from under, peak and overaging condition.
