摘要The study of the solidification process reveals that the high phosphorus and boron contents in commercial Incoloy 901 alloy lead to its low incipient melting temperature, which limits the starting forging temperature to a lower level because of the formation of a low melting point structure containing extremely high phosphorus and boron contents. By reducing and properly controlling their contents, the starting forging temperature of Incoloy 901 alloy can be raised to 1220-degrees-C from 1140-degrees-C without sacrificing mechanical properties, which will greatly lower the resistance to deformation and favour the forging process.
