Anisotropic tensile properties of tungsten fiber reinforced Zr based metallic glass composites

摘要The tensile properties and deformation behaviors of Zr based metallic glass composites containing different tungsten fiber orientations were investigated. The angles (theta(f)) between tungsten fiber orientation and loading axial direction are 0 degrees, 15 degrees, 30 degrees, 45 degrees, 60 degrees, 75 degrees and 90 degrees, respectively. The results show that the strength and the failure modes vary with theta(f). The tensile strength of the composite decreases as the Of increases. The tensile strength of the composite at theta(f)=90 degrees is only 253 MPa. The plasticity of all the composites do not be improved. The composites failed approximately theta(f) normal fault at theta(f)=0 degrees/15 degrees, while the composites failed along the tungsten fiber when the Of is bigger than or equal to 30 because of the low axial grain boundary strength of the elongated W grains.
