Deep Cryogenical Treatment Technique for Tungsten Carbides and Its Development

摘要The development of deep cryogenic treatment of cemented carbides was introduced. The deep cryogenic processing as well as its effect, and strengthening mechanism were also summarized. Deep cryogenic treatment mainly enhances the wear resistance. However, it has little effect on hardness, bending strength, density, magnetism and other physical properties. After the deep cryogenic processing, both the amount of epsilon-Co (hcp) and surface residual stress increase. The strengthening mechanism is phase transformation strengthening and surface residual stress strengthening.
