AbstractIt is demonstrated that electroslag remelting (ER) can control the inclusion size and its dispersibility better through comparing the very high cycle fatigue (VHCF) properties of two kinds of GCr15 bearing steels prepared by vacuum melting (VM) and ER. Therefore, the specimens prepared by ER, exhibit a better fatigue property. Experimental results and theoretical analysis demonstrate that the stress intensity factor range at the granular-bright facet (GBF) boundary, Delta K-GBF, keeps a constant if the steels are with an identical strength, but it will decrease with the increase of yield strength.
