AbstractThe microstructure of NiAl-based multiphase alloy Ni-30Al-5Mo-0.5Hf has been investigated, which consists of NiAl, Ni3Al and Mo, and there also existed large amount of strip Ni3Al in the NiAl. The alloy exhibits superplastic behavior over a narrow temperature ranges from 1050 to 1100 degreesC at the strain rate range of 5.2x10(-4) s(-1) - 6.24x10(-3) s(-1). A maximum tensile elongation of 160% was obtained at 1050 degreesC with the strain rate sensitivity up to 0.46. The mechanism for superplastic is a process of dynamic recovery and recrystalline.
