Abstract | Under high-energy reaction ball milling, Mg-30% amorphous TiMn1.5 hydrogen storage material was successfully synthesized. Experimental results show that Mg particles are transformed into hydrides completely and amorphous TiMn1.5 particles distribute uniformly in the Mg-matrix. The hydriding process may be divided into two stages: amorphous TiMn1.5 refining the Mg grain, hydrogen molecules being dissociated and to provide "paths" for diffusion of hydrogen atoms. DSC curve indicates that the composite dehydrides at about 500 K. These results prove that the absorption/desorption kinetics of Mg-based hydrogen storage material may be improved by the addition of amorphous TiMn1.5. |
