Preparation and optical spectrum characteristics of BaHfO3 : Ce nano-powder

AbstractCe doped-BaHfO3 nano-powders were synthesized by the co-deposition and calcing method, XRD, TEM and TG-DTA were employed to analyze the phase change and the characteristics of nano-powders during calcing process. The excitation and emission spectra were analyzed by the fluorescence photometer. Results show that the average diameter of the powders is about 30-50 nm, the powders have good dispersibility and polygonal morphology after calcining at 1000 degrees C for 2 h. The maximum light band intensity appeared at dopping of 0.3%Ce (molar fraction). There are two excitation bands at 393 nm and 445 nm, and two emission bands excited by the 393 nm light are located at 485 nm and 530 nm, repectively. But there is only one wide emission band excited by the 445 nm light, peaking at 529 nm, another emission peak near 483 nm is very weak. The emission character is resulting from the 5d-->F-2(5/2) and 5d-->F-2(7/2) transitions of Ce3+ cation, and both the excitation and emission spectra were wide bands.
