AbstractThe in situ formed Al2O3 and TiB2 particulates reinforced Al-3.3 wt pct Cu alloy composite has been successfully fabricated by reaction pressing of TiO2, Al, B and CuO powders. The in situ formed Al2O3 and TiB2 particulates with a size from 10 nm to 2 mu m are uniformly distributed in the matrix. The composite has a tensile strength of 482 MPa and an elastic modulus of 103.3 GPa.
