AbstractBy HIP processing, the NiAl-20 vol% TiC in situ composite fabricated by the hot-pressing aided exothermic synthesis (HPES) technique was further densified and the TiC particles in the NiAl matrix tended to become round, and the NiAl/TiC interfaces, which were flat and smooth, become overlapping in most cases. The effect of the microstructure on yield strength is also discussed.
