Abstract | Silicon carbide/carbon (SiC/C) foam material as a type of lightweight structural material, widely used in civilian and military field due to its excellent electromagnetic (EM) absorption properties. However the EM wave absorption performance of SiC/C foam material have not been analyzed from a structure point of view. In this work, the effect of the cell size, the solid volume fraction, and the thickness of SiC/C foam material on the EM wave absorption properties are studied. The results which obtained with the simulation method based on tetrakaidecahedron model. The simulation results show that the structure dimension of the SiC/C foam material has a great influence on the absorption performance. The special EM absorption properties due to the impedance matching, interfacial polarization, and the scatting effect of the SiC/C foam material. Moreover, a broadband EM wave absorption SiC/C foam material is optimize designed, with the reflectivity is lower than -10 dB between 8.2 GHz and 18 GHz, the bulk density is only 0.57 g cm(-3). |
