Effects of of temperature on corrosion fatigue behavior of 316LN stainless steel in high-temperature pressurized water

AbstractInfluence of temperature on corrosion fatigue (CF) behavior of 316LN stainless steel in high-temperature pressurized water was investigated from 373 K to 598 K at a strain rate of 0.04%s(-1). It is found that the CF life of 316LN stainless steel decreases with increasing temperature in water environment. The relationship between the reciprocal of temperature and the logarithm of fatigue life was found to be linear. Mechanisms involving temperature effects on CF crack initiation are discussed and a linear CF model to account for the above temperature effects of CF life is proposed.
