摘要	Extracranial carotid artery aneurysm represents an uncommon vascular condition with relatively higher incidence in China than in the West.1 The complication with infection and rupture is even rarer, but potentially lethal. Management of this condition is challenging but urgent because of high risks for embolization, generalized sepsis, further expansion, rupture, and life threatening.1,2 We present an exceptional case of carotid aneurysm at bifurcation complicated with rupture and infection and discuss the pathogenesis and various aspects of diagnosis and surgical management.
