AbstractThe dynamic corrosion behavior of ZTi60 in neutral NaCl solutions containing various F- concentrations was investigated using a rapid scratching equipment, and the effect of F- ions and mechanical scratches on passive film was discussed based on point-defect model. The results indicate that when F- concentrations are higher than critical value, F- ions can migrate from film/solution interface into passive film, and form fluorine-titanium complex. However, the critical F- concentrations for the intact and scratched Ti surface are different. The scratched surface with higher defect density and enrichment of F- around the scratched areas can be damaged at lower F- concentrations.
