Study is made of the influence of heat treatments and applied potentials on the stress corrosion cracking (SCC) susceptibility for Al-Li alloy by slow strain rate technique. The relationship between the relative hydrogen content on specimen surface and applied potentials is also exam. ined. The intergranular corrosion (IC) susceptibility is investigated too. The intermetallic compounds are synthesized for investigating of their corrosion behavior. Results show that heat treatments great effect on SCC behaviors and the intermetallic compounds play important roles in corrosion performance. The mechanism of SCC for Al-Li alloy is discussed.
