Abstract | The EPR parameters D and Delta(g) over bar(= (g) over bar - g(s)) for the two tetragonal centers Cr3+-(0) and Cr3+-V-Cs in Cs2CdCl4:Cr3+ crystal are studied from two theoretical models, one is the two-spin-orbit (S.O.) parameter model in which the contributions to EPR parameters from both the S.O. coupling of the central metal ion and that of the ligands are considered and another is the conventional one-S.O.-parameter model where only the contribution from the S.O. coupling of central metal ion is included. The calculated results show that for the d(3) clusters with ligands having large S.O. coupling coefficients, the contribution from the S.O, coupling of ligands cannot be neglected and the two-S.O.-parameter model should be used in the studies of EPR parameters. |
