摘要 | The deformation behaviour of a 15 vol%TiC particulate reinforced Ti-6Al-4V composite was investigated under monotonic loading at elevated temperatures. The mechanical behaviour under compressive and tensile loading was found to be similar. There is a significant improvement in strength and creep resistance of Ti-6Al-4V on reinforcement with TiC particulates. The deformation behaviour of the Ti-composite was found to be qualitatively similar to the matrix alloy Ti-6Al-4V. It has been shows that the addition of TiC particulates refines the microstructure of Ti-6Al-3V alloy significantly and is responsible for the improved properties of the composite.
