摘要Based upon previous investigations on crack electro-healing by the addition of only inhibitor(s), the present paper concentrates on the exploration of the crack electro-healing behavior in pure Ni with the combination presence of an inhibitor 2-Mercapto-5-benzimidazolesulfonic acid (MBIS) and an accelerator thiourea (TU) in Watts bath. Voltammetry was performed to characterize the electrochemical aspect when these two additives were added. Current transient and injection experiments were conducted to study the synergistic effect of MBIS and TU to Ni deposition. It is proposed that TU will displace some of the MBIS molecules adsorbed on the electrode surface, which will break up the blocking layer of MBIS, therefore avoid the formation of annual-ring-like defects that form when only MBIS is present.
