AbstractThree Re doped aluminide coatings with different Re content were prepared by electroplating and subsequent arc ion plating (AIP) method. Cyclic oxidation behaviour of all coatings was carried out at 1100 degrees C. The results indicated that the oxidation resistance was significantly improved with an appropriate amount of Re addition and electroplating Ni. Besides, Re accelerated the theta-to-alpha Al2O3 phase transformation. The oxidation mechanisms of aluminide coatings with Re doped and Ni electroplated were discussed as well.
